Welch Allyn Braun Thermoscan Pro 6000 Ear Thermometer 9600 plus calibration MegaTest.webp

What is an in-ear ThermoScan?

A tympanic thermometer, or ear thermometer, is a hand-held device that measures the temperature of the eardrum using an infrared sensor.

One of the most popular brands in service is the Welch Allyn Braun ThermoScan PRO 6000 and this ear thermometer features advanced measurement technology with the speed and simplicity you need to capture accurate and reliable temperature readings in a comfortable way for patients.

As with all medical equipment they need to be verified every 12 months to ensure accurate and reliable readings.

Some safety points your ThermoScan.

Good quality alkaline batteries are a must for these unit to ensure accurate and performance results.

Visual Inspection of the probe lens to ensure it is free of fingerprints, dust, or residue, this can affect the results.

Probe covers must be always used and discarded after every scan.

Can they be calibrated and verified?

The Braun Pro 6000 is initially calibrated at the time of manufacture. If the thermometer is used according to the directions for use, periodic readjustment is not required.

However, Welch Allyn recommends checking calibration on an annual basis or whenever clinical accuracy of the thermometer is in question.

MegaTest has made a major investment.

As a company we are one of a very few who have invested in the Welch Allyn Calibration Tester here in New Zealand.

Out trained technicians will verify your Braun, SureTemp and thermometers to ensure they are accurate and certified for use in your medical practice.
